We've got some big public meetings coming up, and we'd love your input! These meetings are super important for shaping the future of passenger rail in our area. We'll post the Wilmington Meeting dates on our website, and other statewide sites will have them soon.
These are drop-in meetings, so feel free to stop by whenever you can. If you can't make it in person, you can still share your thoughts and comments with us.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Highway Division 3 in Castle Hayne will be meeting on Monday, July 8, at the NCDOT Division 3 Office. You can contact Michelle N. Howes, PE, at (910-341-2107/2000) or mnhowes@ncdot.gov.
We really value your feedback and support for passenger rail, so please don't hesitate to reach out. You can also submit public comments on the 2026-2035 draft STIP from June 17 to July 17 using the survey link: https://www.ncdot.gov/initiatives-policies/Transportation/stip/development/Pages/public-involvement.aspx.
The public comment period is from June 17 to July 17, 2024, and the Public Meetings will be held between June 18 and July 10, 2024.
The State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) is all about identifying the construction funding and scheduling of transportation projects at the state level over a 10-year period, and it's updated every two years by the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
These meetings are all about ranking local transportation project priorities and using public feedback to prioritize regional projects. We'd love to hear your thoughts on the local priorities and gain points assignments through an interactive survey tool called MetroQuest.
If you can't make it in person, no worries! You can view all the materials and submit your comments electronically at www.ncdot.gov/sti.
We want everyone to have the chance to participate, so NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act for disabled persons who want to join in these meetings.
For more specific dates and times in your area, please check the webpages easterncarolinarail.com and NCDOT news releases ncdot.gov/initiativespolicies/Transportation/stip/development/Pages/news-releases.aspx.
